Day 17 Tuesday 23rd April
Time is beginning to move fast now as we head towards the last days of our holiday. We thought me going to the Bangiril Caves but we have heard they are not open to the public. And then some say they are and it's all a little confusing. So we go to the tourist office to see if they can help. They kind of say they are not open to the public but are not sure. It's a 2 and half hour journey so we're not sure we want to risk it. So we decide to take the train to Loule and then bus it down to Vilhamour. She puts us off the beach part of the trip though when she says it's just bars along the waterfront. So we are going to take the train to Loule but there isn't one until 12.30 so we Uber it which doesn't cost much. And later we find out the station in Loule is nowhere near the centre of town.
When we get there we check out the famous Morrocan Market which is totally underwhelming and smells like fish. So we wander from there until we reach the Morrocan castle. A bit small but it turns out to be a highlight of the trip because we are the only ones there almost. We have a run of the castle. Pictures without tourists. Loved it. Small but a pleasure to muck around in.
After we wander around the town but there really isn't much there. We have to find an ATM because no one in Loule takes credit cards. Cash is king here after lunch in town. After a few Insta moments and a fruitless look for the bus station, we catch another Uber back to Faro. We will deem this a rest day!Back in Faro we have a walk around town and come across places we have missed in the walled town which is pretty much next door to where we are staying. A few more photos and a bit of planning for tomorrow and we head back to the apartment firstly picking up some chicken and pasta to cook our own meal tonight. Sometimes you don't want to eat out! Liz made us a delicious meal and then we watched Parasyte on Netflix.
Great ending to the day. However, when Liz went to be I went for a walk to see what was happening with this giant stage that had been building up all week close to us. Today we heard some really loud Dire Straits from our kitchen. But nothing was happening. Maybe soon,
